Under "Tools → Settings → View → Folder Tabs" in the tab "Tab General" the following settings are offered.
Show close button on active tab
If this setting is checked, the button appears on the right side of the active tab. Clicking this button closes the tab.
If this setting is checked, the button appears on the right side of the all tabs. Clicking this button closes the tab.
Show close button next to scroller
If this setting is checked, the button appears on the right end of the tab area (after the
scroll buttons if shown). Clicking this button closes the active tab.
If this setting is checked, a tab can be closed by double-clicking it.
With click on the active tab - change to the last active
If this setting is checked, clicking on the currently active tab changes to the the last active tab.
If this setting is checked, the popup menu button appears at the right end of the tab area, between the
and
buttons (if shown).
Clicking this button opens a popup menu which lists all tabs of the panel. Clicking one of the tabs in the list activates it.
Allow tab dragging
If this setting is checked, a tab can be moved within the tab area by drag&drop.
Always keep one tab open
If this setting is checked, the last remaining tab cannot be closed. If it is not checked, closing the last tab also closes the entire tab area until a new tab is created.
Add new tab near current tab
If this setting is checked, a new tab is added after the currently active tab instead of after the last tab.
Get color from current tab if add new tab
If this setting is checked, a new tab gets its color from the currently active tab instead of from the general tab color settings.
Show drive char in tab caption
If this setting is checked, the relevant drive letter is shown in front of the tab title (file or folder name).
Show tooltip with path info
If this setting is checked, when the mouse is hovered above a tab a tooltip appears showing the complete path of the tab and a hint that right-clicking the tab opens the tab context menu.
Close all not locked tabs when the program ends
If this setting is checked, all tabs which are not locked will be closed when FreeCommander is closed. Otherwise they are available after a restart.
Close all tabs with UNC path when the program ends
If this setting is checked, all tabs with a UNC path are closed when FreeCommander is closed. This prevents FreeCommander from trying to make them available after a restart.
Folder history per tab
If this setting is checked, the history is saved per tab. After clicking the button in the address bar or activating the hotkey "Alt+Down", a popup menu appears listing the folders which have been previously opened in that tab. Clicking one of the folders in the list reopens it in the currently active tab.
Reset locked tab path on tab change
If this setting is checked, the path of the locked tab is activated when the tab is double clicked, or when switching to a different tab.
Mark locked tabs with that character
If this setting is checked, the character entered in this input field will appear in front of a locked tab's title to symbolize the lock.
Maximum lengths of the tab title
If this setting is checked, the length of the displayed tab title is limited to the number of characters entered here. This is beneficial for long path names and/or many tabs.
Function: Last used tab (select from tab list) Ctrl+PgUp
If multiple tabs exist, the shortcut Ctrl+PgUp opens a popup list with all tabs, where an other tab can be opened. The last used tab is selected.
- Only tabs from active panel
If this setting is checked, , the list shows only tabs of the active panel. - Show quick filter for filtering
If this setting is checked, a quick filter is shown in the list to filter the list.
If this setting is not checked and:
- the Ctrl key is kept pressed after opening the list, the list remains shown.
- the Ctrl key is released, the last used tab is opened.
