Under "Tools → Settings → View → Viewer" in the tab "Multimedia" the following settings are offered for the viewer and/or the quick viewer.
These settings are applied for the:
- Viewer, if the window "Configure viewer" was opened via the "Viewer" button
- Quick viewer, if the window "Configure viewer" was opened via the "Quick viewer" button,
or if it was opened via the "Viewer" button and the setting "Use same settings for viewer and quick viewer" is checked.
Images
Fit big images to window
If this setting is checked, big images are always shown so that they are visible as a whole in the viewer window. Otherwise a scrollable portion of the big image is shown.
Center image
If this setting is checked, the image is centered in the viewer window. Otherwise the image is shown at the top left of the viewer window.
Background color
This setting specifies the background color of the viewer window.
In the viewer window, the background color can be temporarily switched using the button the colors "Switch background color" 1 to 3 are also used.
Show info label
If this setting is checked, the image size and miniaturization rate are shown at the top left of the viewer image.
This setting is active only if "Show title bar" (in the tab "General") is not checked.
If "Label text color" is checked, the font color of the text label can be specified here.
If this setting is checked, images with the file extension "JPG" are loaded faster. This setting requires the Intel file "ijl15.dll" to be in the FreeCommander start folder.
Play animated GIFs
If this setting is checked, animated files with the file extension "GIF" are played automatically when viewed.
If this setting is checked, the transparency of files with the file extension "GIF" is shown.
- Use IrfanView/XnView to load images
This option can be checked, if the path of the application IrfanView is entered in the field "Application path". If this option is checked, all files whose file extensions are entered in the field "File extensions" are opened with IrfanView. - Application path

The extensions of files (to be opened with IrfanView) can be entered here.
Zoom filter
A zoom filter can be selected, that is used in the viewer.
The following filters are offered: Do not use a filter, zoom speed optimized and zoom quality optimized filters.
Interface
This setting specifies what interface (what program) will be used to show media files. Selectable programs:
- MCI
- Windows Media Player 6.4
- Windows Media Player 9.0
- VLC Player (must be installed, http://www.videolan.org/vlc/)
Auto-start playback
If this setting is checked, media files are started immediately on opening.
