Tools - Favorite tools

Favorite tree and favorite toolbars

Favorites can be organized in two different ways:

  • in a favorite tree, defined under the menu item "Favorites → Favorites-edit" and opened with the menu item "Favorites → Favorites tree".
  • and in favorite toolbars, described in this chapter.

Under the menu item "Tools → Favorite tools" toolbars with program favorites and folder favorites can be defined and opened.

If the cursor is over the menu item "Tools → Favorite tools" a pop up menu with the following menu items is shown:

  • the menu item "Favorite tools edit" (opens the dialog "Define favorite toolbars")
  • the defined favorite toolbars and their categories and favorite items

The dialog "Define favorite toolbars" can also be opened by right-clicking the "Standard toolbar" or a "Favorites toolbar". The dialog offers settings under the following tabs:

Only the favorite toolbars checked in this list are shown in the FreeCommander main window.

The following buttons are offered for editing the favorite toolbar list.

  • Clicking the button deletes the highlighted item in the item list of the highlighted favorite toolbar.
  • Clicking the button moves the highlighted item one position up (within the category). Subsequent assignments of items to (other) categories, can be done with the button "Category".
  • Clicking the button moves the highlighted item one position down.

Define a new favorite with drag&drop

An other, quick way to create a new favorite (outside "Tools → Favorite tools") is the following drag&drop-technique:

  • Drag the favored file (program) with the left mouse button during "Ctrl+Shift" is pressed.
  • The cursor changes to the dragging symbol .
  • Dropping in the favorite toolbar.
  • A new favorite is created (at the dropping position). It could be modified under the menu item "Tools → Favorite tools".

Dragging a file (without pressing "Ctrl+Shift") on a favorite program in a favorite toolbar, opens the file with this favorite program.
