FC version/build suggestions

#1 Post by Dreamer » 30.11.2014, 17:34

Not just for beta testers, but also for normal users reporting bugs it would be useful to show the exact version/build of FC, currently in some cases x86/32-bit is not displayed, so it's not so easy to identify the version while testing, so here are few suggestions:

1. In About dialog show also 32-bit / 64-bit* in all versions, not just in 64-bit versions:

Currently: FreeCommander XE 2015 Build 680 public beta
Suggested: FreeCommander XE 2015 Build 680 32-bit public beta

2. In Title bar show also 32-bit / 64-bit* together with FC version, currently when using "[platform] [release]", release is on the left, which is a mini-bug, also when using 32 bit version and using "[platform]", it's not displayed at all.

Currently: 680 - FreeCommander XE, 680 - FreeCommander XE (x64)
Suggested: FreeCommander XE 680 32-bit, FreeCommander XE 680 64-bit

3. FC install file names:

Currently: freecommander_xe_portable.zip, freecommander_xe64_portable.zip
Suggested: freecommander_xe32_portable.zip, freecommander_xe64_portable.zip

4. Already suggested, the copy version button in about dialog, or menu item/keyboard shortcut/toolbar button, with OS version, if possible.

* I suggest to display 32-bit/64-bit, which is easier to understand for normal users - and I think all versions (32/64-bit/public/donor/beta) should be consistent.
