Can I get to system directories via the menu?

#1 Post by digitig » 29.01.2008, 12:39

Title says it all, really. Is there any way of getting at system directories via the menu system? I can't find them. I want the menu system because it saves me switching to the mouse if I'm not using it, the system directories toolbar button is off the screen on my laptop (that toolbar desperately needs to be made customisable, it's so chaotic!) and a menu would give me a prompt to the hotkey sequence until I learn the hotkey.

You can define shortcut for open popup menu with system folders Extras->Keyboard shortcuts..: Folder - System directories.
You can configure toolbar Extras->Settings: Toolbar.

But a shortcut isn't what I want! Is it not accessible through the menu? That's very poor user interface design indeed :(

There is a System Directories icon in the toolbar.

But "Program Files" is not considered a system directory!

Yes, but it's off the screen on my laptop display. And it needs the mouse, not keyboard; the toolbar should be an alternative way of accessing features, not the sole way.

Hello.

Marek has said it before:
You can define shortcut for open popup menu with system folders Extras->Keyboard shortcuts..: Folder - System directories.
Define a shortcut for "Folder - System directories" and you have access to the same menü without using the mouse. For selecting an entry use the "up" or "down" keys.

But I won't be reminded of the shortcut key if I forget it, whereas those associated with the menu give me a reminder. This really is basic human interface design stuff, but never mind, I've found a different product with an interface I like.
