Here it is not counted correctly:

I need more information to understand the problem. I presume what you mean by "counted" is the number of selected files reported in the status bar at the bottom of the pane, in your case "3/27 Object(s) selected." And apparently red is a selected file, while blue is highlighted.
The correct results for your three screenshots would be 3/27, 2/27, and 25/27, respectively. That is what I get with FC 611. The count is for the number of selected files, regardless of where the highlight is.
Your first screenshot shows 3/27 at the bottom, so that is correct.
You say the second shot also has 3/27 (not shown in the shot), so that is not correct.
You don't say what the count is for the third shot.
What is your count for the third shot?

If you carefully see the third shot, then you'll see, that 25 files are selected, but at the bottom of screen we see 14/27.

Sorry, I didn't see that earlier.
All I can say is that 611 works correctly for me in this regard (Win7).

I said above that "The count is for the number of selected files, regardless of where the highlight is."
More correctly, if an object is highlighted and no others are selected, then the status bar says "1/n Object(s) selected" (where n is the total number of objects in the pane). However, if one or more objects is selected, then the highlight is not counted. That slight difference does not affect the discussion of Timon's problem.

one file: blue or red or both = 1 count
more than one file: 1 red highlighted = 1 count
3/27
2/27
25/27
the files were selected inside a zip file. however I don't see a reason why Fc should make a difference beetween selecting files inside a zip or not.

Yes, that's a good way to summarize it, sdb.

I just tested 611 in a zip file, and the count behavior is the same as outside a zip file.
Are you are getting correct counts outside a zip file? Is this a problem
only in zip files?

there's a bug. Mostly, counting works. But not always.
I don't know if zip file or not.
Maybe it has something to to do when scrolling or visible files not visible files or select from up to down or down to up.

Ah, the error is intermittent. Are you getting wrong counts both inside and outside of zip files? If so, then it's probably not because of the zip file.

no it has nothing to do with zip or not.
the error happens for example when selecting from down upwards till to the visible files (for selecting the rest 3-4 files it must be scrolled upwards).
test with 27 files...
ah probably it has to do with how fast the files are selected (moving slowly by mouse when holding the right mouse key).

How are you selecting your files? I do it by NC-mode.

select nc mode: yes
select by right mouse key: yes
one single fast selection per right mouse key does correct a wrong count when having multiple files selected.

Interesting clue. You might note if wrong counts (whenever they happen) are always with selection by right mouse button.
