1. I'm not sure if the fav. tree enabled by default is a good idea, it looks complicated for normal/new users. It's easier to enable it for advanced users.
2. It's not easy to close/hide the fav. tree, I have to go to menu - view - fav. tree and then the panel is empty, but not hidden (bug?), I have to hide Tree too to hide it.
3. Add [x] to close the tree/fav. tree panel and "close" to right click context menu, to hide tree easier.
4. Add fav. tree panel toolbar button - since it's enabled by default, also the button should be enabled IMO.
Thanks.
Tree / Favorites tree - suggestions
Re: Tree / Favorites tree - suggestions
2&4)
- You can use the shortcut [ALT+F]
- Tree panel toolbar button is available and can be added manually (thats my favorite to work quickly with the tree)
- Using either of the possibilities to close the Favorite tree does not only empty the tree but also hides it witout any additional actions on my compi
3)
Good idea - quite more intuitive especially for Newbies

Re: Tree / Favorites tree - suggestions
I know all that, it's not for me, it's for normal users and for the FC, it should be intuitive and look not bloated.
Default layout should be friendly for normal/novice users, there are much more I'd change, I have started another topic for this problem earlier, something has been changed, but not all.
Again, advanced users can change the settings much easier than normal users and even normal users who are starting with minimum options, can enable more options later.
Another point - most advanced users are already using FC and they have their own ini, so it wouldn't affect them.
Anyway, intuitive is good not just for new users, it's good also for advanced users, intuitive options save time to me every day, sometimes you don't think you need it, until you use start to use it.

Re: Tree / Favorites tree - suggestions
For example, the favourites-tree button should be default on one of the built-in toolbars. I know I had to find it and add it - that is, AFTER I found out that it existed!

Re: Tree / Favorites tree - suggestions
That's it! First - some (most) users don't know the favorites toolbar button (or the shortcut) exist, even if they know about it, they don't know it works as switch - to toggle the fav. tree.
Most important in programs with many options is one thing - INTUITIVE layout/options/shortcuts...
Similar programs, e.g. most web browsers have the option to close favorites/history with the [x] button.
