Windows freezing doing renames

I'm having problems with renaming files both singularly or using multi rename. Both functions work without a hitch most of the time. But several times I have been trying to rename thumbnails either one at a time or in milti mode & I'm having Windows freeze up & I have had to resort to CTRL,ALT,DEL. I'm using Windows 7 pro 64 bit version.

Any ideas as to what's the problem?

On some PCs with Win7/64 the rename dialog opens in background. You can try with Alt+Tab to put the dialog forward.
