FC "hides" after delete of file

#1 Post by waldstein » 03.12.2010, 23:16

First, let me say hello to all, this being my first post.

After wrestling with Powerdesk for years, I finally switched to FC and, wow!, do I feel like stupid for not having found FC sooner.

I love it, but it is giving me ONE, just ONE, annoying little issue, and I would appreciate some help. Am I doing something wrong, or is this a bug?

Here's the problem: I am in dual pane mode and I want to delete an item (folder or file) from one of the panes. I select, hit "delete", the file/folder is indeed deleted and, INSTANTLY, FC's window disappears behind all the other open windows on my desktop. (Forgot to mention, Using XPSP3Pro). Now this is hardly critical, but it annoys me and I would like to make it stop. Any help will be deeply appreciated, and if I'm an idiot for having missed something obvious, please be merciful. :)

TIA
Waldstein

Hello Waldstein and welcome to the FC forum!

Are you sure you're using the latest FC version? If so, have you tried to reinstall it?

For me it's a new problem and it's strange, perhaps OS related, it's OK here on Vista 32 bit.

Hi Dreamer...found the answer, and you may want to pass it on to the developers.

Once you told me it was not a known issue, I decided to reverse engineer all the changes I had made to FC. Most recently, I had replaced FC's "compass" icon with an icon from another file manager's executable, in a different folder. Reverting to the original FC icon eliminated the problem. Very strange.....

Edit: I extracted the "evil" other icon into an ico file and placed it into FC's home directory. Then changed the icon for FC. Problem solved, new icon working fine.

Thanks,
Waldstein
