changing colours

#1 Post by acruick » 16.12.2009, 23:24

I think Free Commander is an excellent program, but I am having some frustration trying to change colours in the .ini file. I want to have left and right panels with different colours, and this can only be changed in the .ini file.
The colours appear in this file as 7 or 8 digit numbers, and I am having a problem associating colours with numbers. It seems that 16711117 corresponds to a light cyan, but that doesn't help if I want to choose another colour. The numbers don't seem to correspond to RGB values or to Hue, Saturation, and Luminance values.
Does anyone know how to select colours by entering the correct numbers? Any help would be appreciated.

Try to change another color and then copy that color.

Thanks for the reply. I had thought of that, and it does work. However, it is a bit trial and error. I had hoped for something that would link a colour with a number.
I can work with what you suggested, so thanks for that.
I would still be interested in knowing what the significance of the numbers is. How does 14286332 translate into light yellow for instance? If I want light purple, what number do I have to enter? There must be a connection which somebody knows.
