I can't select multiple individual files with CTRL-Leftclick

#1 Post by Gyro » 15.07.2009, 16:06

Hi, I'm using the recent version of FC with Vista Home Ultimate 32 bit.

In Windows Explorer I used to suffer from the bug that I couldn't select individual files by CTRL-Leftclick.

Now that I've successfully fixed this "Windows Explorer single select bug, I still can't select multiple individual files with Free Commander.

Bug or feature? How can I select multiple individual files with FC? Thanks.

Ctrl+left-click works good here (Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit). If you're using NC-Mode, make sure the option "Extended selection with Shift and Ctrl" (in Settings > Select items) is enabled.

You can select items also with Shift+arrow keys, Insert, Space and others to select all files, all files with same extension etc.

Good to know that this isn't a bug of my valued FreeCommander.

Thanks for the hint, Dreamer.

I hadn't used NC-mode before.

Now when I switch it on and enable "Extended selection ...", CTRL-leftclicking still won't work.

It seems that my Vista is doomed ...

@Gyro --
I can duplicate that behavior, both on XP and on Vista HP 64-bit, but I don't know if this is what you are seeing.

If I have only checked "Select files in NC mode" and no other options, I can not select more than one file at a time.

If I turn on "extended selection with Shift and Ctrl", then Ctrl + Left-Click works to make multiple selection.

If I turn on "Select with Right mouse button" AND "extended selection...", then I can make multiple selections with Ctrl + Left-Click, OR with just Right-Click. (then to get Context menu, need to use Ctrl + Right-click).

So for me, I must turn on at least one other option in addition to "Select files in NC Mode".

Are you sure you have the "Extended Selection" option turned on?

granny - this behavior is normal, Gyro said before that NC mode was disabled, also then it should work, so I think it's some kind of virus/ad/spy/bad-ware, or Windows bug, but I don't remember any such a bug.
