Re: Default size of thumbnails should be easy configurable
Does anybody else use Thumbnails and also have a need to adjust their size from time to time?
Re: Default size of thumbnails should be easy configurable
I use thumbnails a lot.
I have configured the default size in FC to 192
For larger views, I prefer the Quick view in the other pane.
My other file managers are better in thumbnail handling
Total Commander let me change from the configured default size using the scroll wheel.
XYplorer has a larger view by hovering over a thumbnail
and the mouse button down function to enlarge a view.
For me, XYplorer is definitely the best in viewing pictures.

Re: Default size of thumbnails should be easy configurable
It's partly possible in Automatic Views - <Default view> - View type - use any thumb view with the specific size, e.g. Thumbnails list 48.
The same way it's possible to set different values for other folders/subfolders, e.g. for Pictures use Thumbnails 120.
With automatic views it's 0-click solution.
For changing the thumbnail size there are custom keyboard shortcuts and direct toolbar buttons (+ and -).
Anyway, I'm not against this suggestion, perhaps at least as ini option, default thumb size, or Ctrl+wheel to change thumb size (if it's free), similar to viewer image size, if wheel is used to switch files.

I already use Automatic Views, but this is not the solution to get any dynamic size change.Dreamer wrote: 30.04.2024, 18:37 It's partly possible in Automatic Views - <Default view> - View type - use any thumb view with the specific size, e.g. Thumbnails list 48.

Where? I am having trouble finding this optionhorst.epp wrote: 30.04.2024, 14:23 I use thumbnails a lot.

Through
workaround?
I think I was not clear enough plus there are different functionalities here to be dealt with. Thus, after rethinking, I will most likely make a new comprehensive post summarizing ideas for a diverse / better usability of thumbnailshorst.epp wrote: 30.04.2024, 14:23 My other file managers are better in thumbnail handling

Re: Default size of thumbnails should be easy configurable
I said it's "partly possible", so it's just a workaround, since you'd have to use any thumb view mode as default view, but perhaps you could create automatic view item for thumbnails - images only, of course, add more extensions for images (and videos, if needed):
For <Default view> use just List or Details view.
Re: Default size of thumbnails should be easy configurable
It's the menu on the button
Toogle between the current and Thumbnails view.

Re: Default size of thumbnails should be easy configurable
I think I had not been clear enough and overall there are different functionalities here to be dealt with; plus I forgot about a similar topic from the past. Thus, after much rethinking, I gathered such propositions for additions / changes and listed know to me issues in a new comprehensive topic:
