Sort Folders As Files option on the Splitter breaks itself [FIXED]

#1 Post by Forez » 03.02.2023, 13:50

I have just put on my Splitter an icon with the "Sort folders as files" description. And I can turn it ON by clicking on it, by I am unable to turn it OFF. In order to get rid of this peculiar sort order I need to right click on an empty space in a Panel and navigate to the Sort by nested entries. But even if click there that Sort folders as files option and get returned to the default behavior, the highlight color added to the icon icon the Splitter does not go away- thus I have to close and re-open FreeCommander

If I recall correctly, a long time ago I reported a similar bug, concerning Splitter and highlight indicator - and it got taken care off

I am using FreeCommander version 880 32-bit public on Windows 10 Enterprise 20H2 19042.746 x64

If the button is to be used as a switch, then an "Group index" must be defined for this button.
It is a group with one element, the index must be unique. Use values for your indexes > 1000.
Check "Details for a toolbar item".

I tried to use it for the splitter button Quick view, but the maximum index value is 1000, if I add higher value, it's changed back to 1000.

When using it for Quick View, value 1000 or 999 works when clicking the button with mouse, but when using Ctrl+Q shortcut, it does not work, so the highlight state could be wrong.

Anyway, value 10 for the Plain view works good when using mouse and keyboard shortcut Ctrl+B.

Is it possible to do the same for quick view too? (Now I think it's a bit OT.)

But how is a user suppose to know, which Group Index to choose? Just pick any number which is not already in use? If yes- then where is a list of used Group Indexes; and / or could not FC do it automatically?

So if back then I understood correctly and also now this viewtopic.php?t=3491 explanation, plus the explanation from https://freecommander.com/fchelpxe/en/D ... lbars.html which says:
Group index

If several items of a toolbar have the same group index, only one of them can be active at the same time.
Example: In a panel either the "List view" or the "Details view" can be active. Therefore the items "List" and Details" have to have the same group index. An item with group index "0" is independent of the other items. It acts as a function button (e.g. "Unpack...") or an on/off button ("File system tree panel" on/off) and not as a switch button ("List view").
then I should assign to each button on my Splitter a different value of Group Index in order to have them work without connection to others options / shortcuts?

After changing Group Index of this "Sort folders as files" to 999 it now works A-OK. But I still do not know

The only value of 999 that I found in my

FreeCommander\Settings

folder was that for

Code: Select all

RenameOnClickPeriode=
but there were no other entries with such name. Thus the question: so where is this 999 stored at, along with other Group Index values?

How many years does a Donor user has to wait for any kind of answer to a simple question?

"Sort folders as files" on splitter works well now.
Group index values > 1000 works well now.
I think, the user needs nothing more.
