FreeCommander PortableApp 2007.10
Vista Home Premium x64
NC-Mode Not Selected
numerous drives, from 750Gig drive with 100s of 1000s of files to several USB Thumbs at 4-gig
Display drives in Bar
* Assume a folder view of files and folders in a directory that isn't being changed in the background by another process
* Note that some folders have specific file icons that are NOT normally associated with a window's folder (assume in this case, the icon displayed is JPG)
* Select such a folder with name TEMP (just an example; occurs regardless of name)
upon making the selection, the "folder's name" changes from TEMP to a filename that would be using that icon (in this example, X.JPG). at this point, the filesize and date/timestamps report the size of the folder and the folder's date/timestamp, but everything else about the selection says you have just selected a file named X.JPG.
close FreeCommander completely, return: this won't change.
the danger: you can select files thinking you have made correct selections, find out you deleted / moved / copied files or folders you did not expect. this will occur on my home desktop (hp high-end quadproc with lots of memory) several times a day. once it happens, it is consistent for that folder.
while FC has some quirks, it is by and large remarkably-stable. this, however, makes selection something dangerous and unusable.
thank you...

there is no specific step-by-step. the only consistency is that there are sub-folders and files displayed in any one particular displayed folder structure, and a suspect folder will NOT display the windows icon for folder; it will display an icon for another file (as in the example, a JPG icon if there are JPG files in the folder).
i've installed the june 2008 version, and will report back if i see (or don't see) the problem.
thinking about this further: what i will also do is take screenshots of "before" and "after". do you have a place where i can upload images, or would you prefer a web link?
Thank you for getting back to me
