Hello Underdog.
I think you have helped to identify the exact problem.
Thanks for your observant number crunching. Your analysis of the font size differences does, in fact, reveal a pattern of sorts. It seems to be related to Windows' percentage scaling of text for display, as per your preferences in the Control Panel.
For example, in Win7 I can choose to "make text and other items larger or smaller" using a Control Panel option. Win7 offers only three choices: 100%, 125% or 150% (unlike XP, which let you select a much more granular level, like 110%).
If this Windows universal (display) text sizing option is set to 125%, for example, then the FCXE favorites tree text problem does indeed occur for any change to Settings. However, if it is left at 100% then that FCXE problem does not occur. I just tested if today.
Unfortunately, that default Windows 100% setting is not optimal for everyone. I use 125%, and thus get the bug we are now discussing.
In summary, I think the problem is that the Favorites tree font size defaults back to the universal Windows text scaling percentage after a change to Settings. You won't notice this as a problem unless that scaling percentage is not at 100%.
Hope others can confirm my assessment of this bug.
