Problem saving shortcuts in Viewer
Hi,
I have a problem: I want to customize the shortcuts for the Viewer. The customization works fine while the Viewer is active - but as soon as I close it - the shortcuts revert back to their original values.
I couldn't find any option to save the Shortcuts. I also tried to save the settings from the main FC menu (while the Viewer was active or not) - still no luck. I didn't see the shortcuts saved anywhere in the config files and everytime the Viewer reverts back to its own default values.
Can anybody help me with this? Is this a known bug?
I'm using FC XE beta v. 609 (originally; now I'm using 621 and the problem is still there).
Thanks.

It works good here (630), please try the latest version, 629 if possible.
Other options, FC shortcuts works good?

I can't try the latest version, since 621 is the latest publicly available (and I'm not a donor). I'll try it when the next public version will be available.

Re: Problem saving shortcuts in Viewer
As for your last question - I have tried with other shortcuts for the FreeCommander main window.
They work as expected. When I define a new shortcut - a file appears in the Settings folder (FreeCommander.shc) with the newly defined keyboard shortcut and action. And the shortcut works accordingly and remains after the program is restarted.
If I reset the shortcut - then the file disappears and the old shortcut is reput back and works again.
So as far as I can tell - it works ok for the main FreeCommander window.

Re: Problem saving shortcuts in Viewer
I have updated to the latest public version (635) and the problem remains. Whatever shortcuts I set in the viewer are not saved.

Does anyone have any ideas?
Re: Problem saving shortcuts in Viewer
First you must be sure your freecommander.ini is writeable.
FreeCommander has Viewer (F3) and QuickViewer (Ctrl+Q).
Try to deactivate (if active) the option "Use same settings for viewer and quick viewer" under Settings-Viewer.
Now open one text file with F3 (Viewer) and go to Options-Settings: Shortcuts.
Change some shortcuts and save with OK.

Re: Problem saving shortcuts in Viewer
Thanks for the info, Karol, but unfortunately it didn't work.
I verified that freecommander.ini is writeable (saved the settings and the date was updated, new settings written).
I did all you said and the shortcuts remain active while the "Viewer" window remains open. But once I close it and reopen it on the same or a different file, the settings revert to the original values.
Also - after applying the settings in the Viewer, I haven't noticed any file being updated (like freecommander.ini or the likes). So basically the new shortcuts are never written anywhere, that's why they're not remembered.
Maybe it's useful to say that I'm using the "zip" version of the FreeCommander XE, downloaded from here: http://www.freecommander.com/FreeComman ... rtable.zip

Sorry, it was not exactly. The shortcuts are saved in the freecommander.shc.First you must be sure your freecommander.ini is writeable.

Unfortunately, there was no file "freecommander.shc".Karol wrote:Sorry, it was not exactly. The shortcuts are saved in the freecommander.shc.
I managed to create it, though, by setting a new shortcut in FreeCommander (not in Viewer), by going to Tools->Define keyboard shortcuts.
Then - whatever shortcuts I set in Viewer, they were saved in this file and everything was remembered during sessions.
So in the end - it's solved! But I think that the bug remains: the file "freecommander.shc" is not created if you modify shortcuts in Viewer alone. If the file exists, however, they are saved correctly.
Thanks Karol!

Re: Problem saving shortcuts in Viewer
And one more thing
If the shortcut from FreeCommander (I had only one) is removed, the entire file "FreeCommander.shc" is deleted, even though the file still contained the shortcuts of the Viewer!!
Hope that helps in identifying the bug.
