Export Layouts or Favorites

#1 Post by duarte.framos » 24.04.2012, 13:45

Hello everyone, I am quite new here but have been looking for a File Manager replacement (currently using Nomad.NET) and after a lot of research (XYPlorer, Xplorer2 Explorer++ and others) I am trying Freecommander lately; quite liking what I have seen thus far.
I am really inclined to donating to get access to the latest beta, but I need this "layouts" feature which I have read is not yet implemented (at least in the latest public 570 build). After searching the forums I have a few questions though (sorry if they've been asked before):

1 Any of the private beta testers can confirm if this is implemented in the latest (586 build I think) yet?
2 If not, will it be on the next release, or do you know when it's planned for?
3 Currently (in 570 at least) opening favorites overwrites currently opened tabs. Is it a feature or bug? Is there an option/way to open in new tabs?
4 In Nomad.NET favorites where saved to a .tab file that could be moved anywhere out of the favorites folder and opened with double click.
Can this be done in FreeCommander, or is there any workaround for it?

I ask this because I use my file managers at home and at work as a portable app. At work I have a lot of folders opened at he same time (some local, some network) for a certain project. These would ideally be saved as a layout, but over time the list could grow considerably and become unmanageable as I work in more and more different projects with specific set of folders.
Also I have no need to use my work folders at home, and vice versa, so if these layouts could be saved in independent files that could be put somewhere in the project's folder they refer to and opened with double click it would be great.

No, it is not implemented now.

The next public release is planned in the next 10 days - without layouts.
I hope, I can implement layouts in the next months.

It is not a bug. I am working now on favorites and I think I could add some new functions to open favorites in the new tabs.

Looking forward to those favorites improvements and specially layouts features, I'll probably donate when I can get access to these.
Thank you very much for the answers.
