Combine Favourite and Action Toolbars
Combine Favourite and Action Toolbars
Salvete! In the old FC, when we customized the toolbar, we would find two kinds of toolbars - the "action" toolbars, which were the default toolbar set, and the "custom" ones, which we could design and arrange ourselves. These two sets of toolbars could be interspersed amoungst each other without issue.
What I am writing here about is this: In old FC, we could add "action" commands to our own "favourite" toolbars. In the new FCXE, we cannot do this.
I propose that in the "Define favorite toolbars" panel, that when we click on the "..." button after the "Program" textbox, in that dropdown menu, we not only get "Seek folder..." and "Seek Program..." but *ALSO* "Seek Command...". "Seek Command..." would give us another menu with submenus showing us all the built-in commands offered to us by FCXE - just like the old FC used to have.
In old FC, I was able to mix up FC's built-in commands with my own buttons. In fact, I redesigned all the toolbars and never used the default ones at all. It was wonderful.
Can we have this for FCXE?
I am wondering if it might not make things easier and simpler to combine "Favourite" and "Action" Toolbars into just one configuration. Maybe the button-trading list from "Action Toolbars" could become a tab in the "Define Toolbars" panel.

Re: Combine Favourite and Action Toolbars
Try to write in "Program:" field: <ActionName>.
Example: <actFileView>
The action names you can find in the lng file.

Re: Combine Favourite and Action Toolbars
Well, I'll be darned! That works! Now, how do I get the accompanying icon?

The icon of the action is showed in toolbar.
Re: Combine Favourite and Action Toolbars
Maybe I am doing something wrong, then? My button is blank. I tried adding <actDirOpenDesktop> in the Program... box. The button was added and the function works, but I don't get any icon.

The action has no icon asigned now. You can assign your own icon to the button.I tried adding <actDirOpenDesktop>
Re: Combine Favourite and Action Toolbars
Well, I was hoping that FC would supply it for me. If I want to build a set of toolbars using default commands, I don't think I should want to hunt in my system for icons to put into the buttons. FC already has the icon in its resources - is there any easy way to get to it?

<actDirOpenDesktop> has an icon now (release 579).
Re: Combine Favourite and Action Toolbars
Marek, thanks - the icon shows now, but I had to remove the button and re-add it first. However, I use the 32x32 large icons in my toolbars, and I think the one showing is not the 32x32 icon (although it shows correctly in the Actions Toolbar).
I think these functions need icons too (you know, sometime when you aren't busy...

Re: Combine Favourite and Action Toolbars
Marek,
Since we can use the internal functions, as you mentioned above, in our favourite toolbars, what about the possibility of a dropdown list of them to select from - it would go in the customization menu of favourite toolbars - just like it was in the final stages of the old FC 2009.
