Right-click on the folder, get Properties . In the Security tab, you will see who or what has rights over that folder. There is an Add button -- add your username and make sure that you have Read checked. Don't give yourself full control, that could allow malware to mess with it in your name.

Are the sub-folders marked with the "hidden" attribute?

Also, what are the permissions of the sub-folders?

You can try to use this utility to check the permissions of the sub-folders against that of the root folder:

The only difference between the laptop and desktop is that my desktop uses a Kensington (model K64325) trackball. I suppose it could be a function of their driver. But if so, it is undocumented, and it is still only happening with FC.


F7 is the hot-key FreeCommander uses to create a new folder ...

F5 for copy (uncheck "Auto rename target file" and/or "Always overwrite without prompt")

Same for move but the hot-key is F6.

Zip all of those $NtUninstall.* folders into one archive. I call mine NtUninstall_{MachineName}.zip

Then test that archive (make sure that it is not somehow corrupted - you never know.)

Then, delete the other $NtUninstall folders that you just zipped up.

If the installation set the permissions on the .ini file to "modify" for users it would be good.


What is the OS? Vista I presume? I am not sure what the problem it is you are having with this, so consider this part of my response more of a solicitation for information than anything.

You can do a nice thing for yourself and your HDD today...

Zip all of those $NtUninstall.* folders into one archive. I call mine NtUninstall_{MachineName}.zip
