Tools - Settings - View - Drives -
Tab General

Under "Tools → Settings → View → Drives" in the tab "General" the following settings are offered.

There are two styles available for displaying drives:

Show drives as popup button

If this setting is checked, a panel's drive is shown as a popup button between the tool bar and the folder tab bar (see: "Overview of the user interface"). After clicking the button, the other available drives are shown in a popup list and can be activated from there.

Show drives as button bar

If this setting is checked, all available drives are shown in a button bar between the tool bar and the folder tab bar (see: "Overview of the user interface").

Show volume name

If this setting and "Show drives as button bar" are checked, the name of each drive is shown (in addition to the drive letter).

Use large icons

If this setting and "Show drives as button bar" are checked, large icons are used for each drive button.

Show drive bar (popup button or button bar) per panel

If this setting is checked, the drives are shown in a separate drive bar for each panel. Otherwise the drives are shown but once at the left side of the window, and the drive of the active panel is highlighted. Showing only one drive bar is beneficial if there are many drives in the system.

Show occupied space progress bar

If this setting and "Show drives as button bar" are checked, a progress bar appears below the drive button bar, indicating the percentage of occupied space on the drive (see: "Overview of the user interface").

If this setting and "Show drives as popup button" is checked, the progress bar is shown to the right of the button.

Show drive button in address bar

If this setting is checked, the drive button and drive letter are shown at the left end of the address bar.

Show only icon (without drive letter)

If this setting and "Show drive button in address bar" are checked, only the button is shown (without the drive letter).

Show free space per local drive (drive button)

If this setting is checked, the free space per local drive is shown in the drive button popup menu.  (This applies to the drive button shown when either "Show drives as popup button" or "Show drive button in address bar" are enabled).

Calculate free space for network drives too - can be very slow

If this setting is checked, the free space per network drive is shown in the drive button popup menu.  (This applies to the drive button shown when either "Show drives as popup button" or "Show drive button in address bar" are enabled). This can be very slow.

Drive hint visibility

If this setting is checked, a drive information appears if the cursor hovers above the drive button. The detection of size and occupied space for some (network) drives may be slow.

Add Eject/Load CD items to drive button popup menu

If this setting is checked, the following additional menu items appear in the drive button popup menu. (This applies to the drive button shown when either "Show drives as popup button" or "Show drive button in address bar" are enabled):

  • Load CD in drive X
  • Eject CD in drive X

Show SFTP/FTP as drive

If this setting is checked, SFTP/FTP access is shown as an additional drive. SFTP is implemented only in the FreeCommander 64 bit version.

Show network as drive

If this setting is checked, the network environment is shown as an additional drive.

Show removable drives only with disc

If this setting is checked, removable drives (CD drives, USB sticks) are shown only if a drive is inserted.

Don't show floppy drives (A:,B:)

If this setting is checked, floppy drives are not shown in the drive button bar. This option is applied also in the favorite items tree and the file system tree.

Always exclude drives (e.g. a,c,d,z)

Any drives entered in this input field will not be shown in the drive button bar.

Example: If "a,c,d,z" is entered, the  drives "A:", "C:", "D:" and "Z:" will not be shown in the drive button bar.
