Auto resizing name column in XE - where is setting?

Tried to find answer before posting but all links I found were to older versions. Sorry if I am missing the obvious (probably am). I somehow have this set right on several versions installed on other machines but one setup is annoyingly resistant. Been using FC for a long, long time through many iterations (not so impressed by the XE "improvements" but then I still fondly remember coding in a 48k workspace in CP/M in assembly language so I'm senile).

Trying to get name column to remain as dragged and set column width as last used in a directory, yet always defaults to longest name every time I switch directories in detail view. Unchecked every autosize variable I could find, set size to a set number in Max size for list view (both positive and negative numbers for grins to see what would happen, anarchist that I am).

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks. Build 650. This one is running on a Win 7 machine, SP1, others on Win 8.1 if that makes a difference.
