Is there some way to change the size of the thumbnails in FC XE. I see you can change the spacing between thumbnails but cannot find where you can change their size

Yes, using the thumbnail view button, in submenu.

Topic moved to correct forum.

Thanks for your answer Dreamer now I've found it. I expected it to be in XE settings under Tools/Settings/View/Thumbnails. I never use the buttons so missed it.

Is there some way to save the thumbnail size setting so XE doesn't revert back to the previous thumbnail size? Tools/Save Settings does not do it.

I don't think so, it would be useful, I agree.

The size is saved automatically per tab.

I didn't know that, anyway, I found a bug, I'll create new topic for it.

Can you elaborate a bit? I can't work out where that is.

I can't find this one in the Settings panel, but in FreeCommander.ini file you can modify these values:

[MainPanel]
LeftThumbSize=96
RightThumbSize=96

This is what Dreamer referred to:

Where exactly within FC is available that choice of size? I Could not find it

And what is more: I went to the FreeCommander.ini file and changed in it both the LeftThumbSize and RightThumbSize value - but only my Left Panel became affected

Plus [even before doing the above] I constantly get filenames truncated by about half at their bottom part, even when there are no other thumbnails below them. And this comes and goes - similar in manifestation / behavior of this bug: http://freecommander.com/forum/viewtopi ... 19&t=11369

It's available with default settings, but if you don't have the drop-down arrow next to the button, you can create it.

Only after your guidance have I found this well hidden option

But there are numerous issues with it:

A] The user is not able to set his own sizes. For me ideal is 245 but I am forced to choose between 192 or 256

B] This is apparently not a permanent / overall setting. I have to set it for every folder; or to be precise: for every Tab. Because creating a new Tab makes it have applied automatically the same default size of thumbnails within that Tab. And that is the whole point: I want to set that size and not to be presented by FC with a carried over choice

C] That default size of thumbnails should be configurable under the

Tools > Settings > View > Thumbnails

I though I could change this in the FreeCommander.ini file, but in the [MainPanel] section of the INI file those

LeftThumbSize
RightThumbSize

entries are affecting the last active Tabs - and because of that they should be renamed to something like

LeftCurrentTabThumbSize
RightCurrentTabThumbSize

so that no one [trying to find a workaround like me] would mistake them for [currently non existing] precised options

LeftPanelThumbSize
RightPanelThumbSize

D] Turning on the arrow for that icon on my Splitter messes the icon. I simply can not get rid of it; i.e. I get rid of it but after re-opening of FC the arrow on the icon is there once more. And I cannot have this altered icon because it makes my Splitter too wide

I have added them to this summarizing post in that new topic: https://freecommander.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=13821

Although with the exception of this last one

which I have only mentioned there - because for this issue I have created a brand new thread: https://freecommander.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=13819
