633 - Rename File/Folder issue

#1 Post by alf5000 » 27.08.2013, 11:07

My friend gave me an external hdd with lots of data on it.
I don't know why, but I need administrator rights for changing those files/folders.

If I want to move/delete a folder with FC, I get this message (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/142 ... delete.png) - then I can continue.

If I want to rename a folder with FC, I get this message (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/142 ... rename.png) - then I cannot continue.

conclusion: If a file needs admin rights, FC can move/delete the file BUT FC cannot rename the file! :?:

I have encountered exactly the same problem in Windows 7 (Windows 7 required administrator rights for deleting files from external HDD, that were written on it under Windows XP). I tried it in Windows Explorer and Total Commander (at that time I didn't know about existence of FC XE). And it was very annoying.
But I had no need to rename the files.

So, if you try to rename file in Windows Explorer or Total Commander and get the same error - then it is not FC XE problem.

nope. WinExplorer just asks for 'Administrator privileges' and then renames the file. (haven't tried with TC)
