553 - Drag & drop archives context menu bug

#1 Post by joby_toss » 31.08.2011, 20:51

This bug was present before and it is still here in 553:

When I drag & drop an archive file from one pane to another, there isn't a "Move here" option displayed, even if Shift key is pressed. I think this could also be related to the fact that my "Name" column does not include the extensions.

Yup, I got the same thing here with 558. I do get, however, "Move Here (fastcopy)"! But I have fastcopy. By the way, I really like the drag-drop icon that appears - it makes a clear indication to me that FCXE is responding to me. I like that.

Beta 575: Okay, I've got a different one now. I want to drag an archive file from the active pane to the inactive pane, and use an item in the regular windows context menu. This usually works (I like to use 7zip and Fastcopy that way). But sometimes (I haven't figured out why or when) when I drag the archive, it begins to hot-track in the other pane, and the only context menu I get has two menu-items only: "Open With" and "Cancel" - as if I wanted to drag the archive into one of the items in the inactive pane.

Works fine for me in 577, BGM, both with and without NC-mode. You might try that version because several select and drag-and-drop problems were introduced, then fixed, in the several releases just prior to it.

Hello! Okay, I am having this problem again, this time with Windows 7 64bit. When I right-drag a zip (or 7z) file from one panel to the other, I lose the 7zip menu from the context menu. It works in explorer, but not in FC. However, I do get the 7zip menu if I just click on the archive and don't drag.

Strange, 595 works fine on my win7x64sp1.

Can you check if you have both "7-zip.dll" versions registered (32 and 64 bit)?

Again, no problem for me in FC XE 595, on Win7 x64. The 7zip option appears in the context menu when I right-drag and drop.

However, I am having a different drag-and-drop problem (http://forum.freecommander.com/viewtopi ... 211#p12575). I don't think it is specifically related to your problem, but perhaps there is a more fundamental issue which is surfacing as various drag problems.

Joby - that did it. I had only installed the 64bit version. After I installed the 32bit also, it began to work. Thanks, y'all!
