Grayed out files

#1 Post by mfslater » 28.05.2011, 08:06

Hi Listmates

Please excuse the newbie question: on installing FC, I find that some of my folders have their names 'grayed out'. What is the significance of this?

Go to Extras - Settings - View - Colors to see how the file and folder names are colored.

Many thanks for the response, but I had seen this in the settings already. The question remains: why was my normal folder switched to 'read only', 'hidden' or 'system' - all of which appear to be grayed out identically - without my doing anything except install FC?

The folder in question had none of these attributes before.

Are you sure? Installation of FC doesn't chang folderattributes. A lot of folders in XP, Vista or Win7 have R or H attributes (e.g. documents, downloads, music, pictures, ...
My Explorer doesn't show attributes-column by default and Explorer doesn't have different colours for these attributes.

Change colour of these attributes in your FC-settings to black and it's done.

Hi Ralf

Yes, on reflection you are probably right that these settings were actually already in place and went unnoticed due to the lack of colour in Explorer.

One up to FC!
