Hi all (new to commander)...
Was wondering if commander can meet my needs, That is:
I need to:
1) search a folder or drive etc for a specific file type.
2) cut all (from multiple folders, all found instances) and paste into new working folder.
- (renaming all multiples automatically)
- (and for the app to remember the original path for every file and its original un-altered filename)
ie as multiples would need to be renamed....
THEN (once you had performed any desired actions...i.e that don't involve renaming)
in one action.
3) move all the files back to their original locations and change the names back to their original settings.
This is very handy say if you want to copy all the image files (of a certain type) from a huge nested Directory structure into one central working folder, perform a batch conversion of some type then copy back ETC...
Can commander do this?
P.S. I noticed some file utilities have similar provisions but don't actually move files to a system folder so as to allow you to leverage 3rd party apps to work on the selection ETC (its all kept "in house")....and thus only allow you to perform a limited set of actions.
If commander could (or can) do this it would make it more attractive to web developers who wish to batch update all files of a certain type that are scattered widely by moving them (temporarily to a working folder, with renaming of multiples) allowing them to perform batch processing out side of commander and then (with commander) allowing them to restore all files to their original location (original file names restored).
Thanks in advance!
can commander do this?
