I just did a search for 'Linux', sure that this has already been asked but I didn't see it. Will FreeCommander ever be a cross platform solution - running on Windows, Linux, OSX? I like its minimal interface etc and would like to run FC on all three of my machines (one for each OS).
Thanks!

Re: Will FreeCommander Come to Linux?
This thread is over two years old so perhaps that explains why I downloaded and installed Free Commander under WINE and it seems to work as it should. However, my reason for trying it is to see if it will access a usb hard drive that I have attached to my router. I can access it via http and ftp under Linux but Nautilus doesn't see the drive at all. I am trying to access my files without having to "download" them and to be able to save any changes I make.baiguai wrote:I just did a search for 'Linux', sure that this has already been asked but I didn't see it. WINE works well with the programs I want to use under Linux but until I can access the files directly via a file manager I might as well keep using Windows.

If you are accessing the router across windows network (samba), then you need to configure samba in linux to reach your files, using Network in Places menu from Nautilus. And maybe you can use something like Tux Commander, with modules, connecting to something like smb://192.168.1.1/Public, or ftp://192.168.1.1/Public through the virtual filesystem (gvfs or gnome-gvfs).
It's working 100% for me.
And yes, I missed a lot FreeCommander in linux, but there are a lot of advantages over windows here (for me).

You should try Double Commander. It's a cross platform open source file manager. It's not mature like FreeCommander, but you could try it.
