Show Tab Popup Menu Button sub-feature could gain from more options

(Please jump straight forward to post #4: viewtopic.php?p=44520#p44520)

I would like to suggest for the

Settings > View > Folder Tabs > Tab Management > Show tab popup menu button

to have its sub-option of

Code: Select all

Show sorted list
be renamed to something like

Code: Select all

Show sorted list of not-locked ones
or maybe

Code: Select all

Show sorted list (applies only to not-locked Tabs)
or even

Code: Select all

Show not-locked tabs sorted alphabetically
so that it would be more informative to the user, thus avert wasting time on checking how exactly it will work when selected

I am using Build 946 64-bit Donor Portable & Build 941 32-bit Public Installed on Windows 10 IOT Enterprise LTSC 21H2 x64 (19044.6691)

Code: Select all

Show sorted list
The name is precise.

The list is sorted - option checked.
The list is not sorted - option not checked.

This has nothing to do with locked tabs.

Either something has fixed itself over night in my Build 946 64-bit Donor Portable and Build 941 32-bit Public Installed on Windows 10 IOT Enterprise LTSC 21H2 x64 (19044.6691) - or (more likely) - I got confused with that excess of my Tabs and not having testing out thoroughly re-drawing of the drop-down list, by changing more extensively their manual order in the Tab Bar; and thus what I should have propose in then this what I will write in the next post

Please add another to the already available sub-option of

Settings > View > Folder Tabs > Tab Management > Show tab popup menu button > Show sorted list

another one named

Settings > View > Folder Tabs > Tab Management > Show tab popup menu button > Sort locked and not-locked Tabs together

so that users could decide if they want to remain a visible split between two kinds of Tabs i.e. if there should be 1 unified sorting for all Tabs or if in that drop-down list that unfolds after clicking of the icon there be 2 independent orders / sub-lists. I would suggest for this new option to be turned off by default, so that it would match the current behavior, therefore not confuse people already using the icon

And also: if the

Settings > View > Folder Tabs > Tab Management > Show tab popup menu button

already splits the drop-down list into two groups, then I propose adding some sort of visual separator for indication od this dichotomy - because not every user chooses to use the

Settings > View > Folder Tabs > Tab Management > Mark locked tabs with this character

option for indication. I think that a simple (mandatory) horizontal thin line (a Separator) would suffice for a clear mark of the split. Alternatively instead of line, an empty entry could be utilized, alike to how such empty "Tab" already is present at the top of this list. Or even provide users with ability to control this, by adding sub-sub-options of

Settings > View > Folder Tabs > Tab Management > Show tab popup menu button > Sort locked and not-locked Tabs together > Split the 2 groups with Separator
Settings > View > Folder Tabs > Tab Management > Show tab popup menu button > Sort locked and not-locked Tabs together > Split the 2 groups with empty placeholder

which would be mutually exclusive

(I have adjusted the title of this topic from >>Show Tab Popup Menu Button sub-feature could gain from using a more precise name<< to >>Show Tab Popup Menu Button sub-feature could gain from more options<< and also changed accordingly the beginning of my initial post, which should be skipped)
