How to replicate this bug:

#1] Create wherever folders named

Code: Select all

XX
XY
YY

#2] Turn on Quick Filter feature for that Panel which shows these folders

#3] Write as filtering expression

Code: Select all

X

#4] Select 2 shown folders, i.e. the

Code: Select all

XX
and

Code: Select all

XY
one

#5A] Click your selection with Right Mouse Button - and then hold it and drag the selection to Desktop

[or]

#5B] Click your selection with Right Mouse Button - and then hold it and drag the selection to wherever except Desktop

[or]

#5C] Click your selection with Right Mouse Button - and then release it and choose the Create Shortcut entry from the shell menu

What happens depends on the last step:

A] Nothing

B] You get an error box saying
Windows can't create a shortcut here.
Do you want the shortcut to be placed on the desktop instead?

C] All two shortcuts are created as they should

So this comparison shows that FreeCommander has a problem both with processing a request for shortcut creation when some of the folders are temporarily hidden but deals with it in two ways [with error and without]

This is happening to me in Build 912 64-bit Donor Portable and Build 901 32-bit Public Installed on Windows 10 Enterprise 20H2 x64 [10.0.19042]

I think, this has nothing to do with QuickFilter.
Using option "Use blocking transfer ..." works well.
