If however I will evoke the rename window for such item by using the
Tools > Settings... > View > File/folder list > Mouse shortcuts
ability, then both the Original Name and New Name boxes display such ending pause white-space, but trying to alter such name in apparently whatever way will result with an error pop-up saying
And also Windows Explorer will also pop-up and sayThe system cannot find the path specified
Other interesting symptom is that it is impossible to delete such item and to copy / paste it using keyboard shortcuts CTRL+C / CTRL+V [both if FC and WE] while being able to copy it using the F5 feature in FreeCommander. But on that very operating system I do can rename such item and even add whatever number of white spaces at the end of it by using Everything for that purpose [https://www.voidtools.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=15128]could not find the item
I crated an archive containing such file and folder for test purposes: https://file.io/2fnCP4voEcbi. If you will indulge in testing, then I advise extracting it to some obscure / unimportant folder like
C:\Windows\Speech
so that in case its new content will become non-removable you will not be bothered by its presence. But it seems that extracting them makes their ending pause whitespace sign be replaced with
Code: Select all
_
Tools > Options > Advanced > rename_trim > false
and then renaming some already existing item shown in the main window of Everything
I am using Build 907 64-bit Donor Portable & Build 900 32-bit Public Installed on Windows 10 Enterprise 20H2 x64 [10.0.19042]
