Greatly appreciate the contributors version, the ability to replace characters that cannot be used in file names with an underscore is excellent, however, can this be replaced with a Hyphen (-) instead of an underscore

Such replacements / "translations" of illegal characters should be able to be changed to the liking of a user

I have not seen this feature that you speak of, as I use public version of FC - but I have adjusted my personally created [lets call it] "TITLE tag to FILENAME copy" feature in Mp3tag [and created also its counterpart copy-FILENAME-to-TITLE] in accordance to views of how such signs from Title of a song could be represented in filename of the audio which happens to be a song that has such title

I am using version 861 32-bit public and every illegal character that I write in a name of an item is transformed into >>_<< - except in the Multi Rename feature


And what is more important: how can I turn this off? I want to see error messages and not obligatory changes of what I just wrote or pasted in. In the online help I found illegal character only here: https://freecommander.com/fchelpxe/en/Multirename.html

I would prefer replacing special characters with an addition/plus character (+) versus an underscore (or permit the user to configure what that replacement character should be within the Settings
