832 - Huge freezing when using "Size of folders" option

I can't reproduce it yet, but I had it 2 times already, the only difference is using the option "Size of folders", but I'm not 100% sure it's this option.

Second time it happened, when I copied 2 files with Ctrl+C and switched few tabs, from 1st to 6th with shortcut, before that I created some favorite tools items, categories, option "Size of folders" was enabled all the time.

To reproduce try to use my settings with layouts, enable the option "Size of folders" for left panel, create 5 or 10 tabs, go to folder with many subfolder, many files, use details view, sort by size auto, then just use FC, switch tabs, copy, move files, also with Ctrl+C/X/V, also try to create some items in favorite tools, open, create some, close, open and create more, close...

I think the problem could be auto refresh, especially if some files are downloading, recording, copying, so the folder sizes are changing all the time.

Now my results: FC started to freeze, I could click the tabs in left panel, but the content of the file list was not changed, same content was displaying all the time - right panel was OK, after few minutes also right panel was broken, I couldn't exit FC, confirmation dialog was opened, I clicked Yes, but FC was not closed, I tried it few times. I decided to wait, FC was closed after 15 minutes. I had no error dialogs, no "Not responding" message.

Probably it will be hard to reproduce and test, but I think it could be similar or same issue as other users reported already.

BTW My main disk with OS and FC is HDD 7200rpm (non-SMR), other disk for data is HDD 5400rpm and it's SMR - I didn't know it when I bought it, so it could cause problems, if possible test on HDD, not SSD.

FC 8322, Windows 10 2004 64-bit.

I got it.

To reproduce:
- use default settings
- create 3 tabs on left panel with different paths
- for 2nd tab use folder with many subfolders (20+) with content (video files)
- enable "Size of folders" option
- on 2nd tab switch to details view
- sort by size auto
- switch tabs quickly with Ctrl+Tab or mouse wheel over the tab bar
- repeat previous step few seconds
= left panel content and address bar show the same content for 2nd tab only
- click X to close FC
= FC is not closed, it's closed after few minutes

If you can't reproduce, switch tabs very quickly with the wheel or hold shortcut Ctrl+Tab few seconds, try folder with more folders, test at least 1 minute, or/and test on HDD.

Now, it works fine. I Can hold Ctrl+Tab for long time - no problem.

I can reproduce it in 8323 with Ctrl+Tab and mouse wheel in less than 5 seconds, with default settings and steps above.

Perhaps try to add more folders, copy/paste same, or/and try it with my settings, or/and slow down disk somehow, copy something in other instance...

I have used old USB disk with many folders and my slow network drive (4 tabs).
No problem, it works always now.

Weird, in 8324 I can still reproduce it.

Default settings, 3 tabs, 2nd tab with 8 folders with images, "Size of folders" enabled, details view, sort by size auto, hold Ctrl+Tab for 2 seconds.

Perhaps try the first tab C: or D:, second test with details view, sort by size auto.

OK, I tried to reproduce it with default settings now and I can't reproduce it. I'm 100% sure it was broken before, with the same version 8324.

Anyway, I could reproduce it in 2 seconds with my settings, so try it with my settings, please:

- left panel, change path to some folder with many subfolders with videos
- create new tab, D: as 3rd tab
- go to 2nd tab
- click the "KB" button
- use mouse wheel down over tab bar to quickly switch tabs

I'm sorry, I can still always reproduce it with default settings, I forgot the step sort by size auto, you can ignore previous post, I can reproduce it also with 2 tabs only.

Have you tried with disabled AV program?
Have you tried with other folders/harddrives?
Have you tried on some other PC?

I tried to disable Defender - real time, cloud, tamper protection, using just tabs with path to D:, only tabs with paths to C:.

I can always reproduce it, if sorting is by Size auto, never if sorting is by Name.

I tested it in old 804 version and I can't reproduce it there.

I just tested in with 8325, default settings, left panel - tab1 - testfolder with empty subfolders and empty files, details view, sort by size auto, "Size of folders" enabled - tab2 and tab1 on the other panel have testfolder2/3 which have just empty subfolders and files, so FC don't have to calculate any sizes.

When the tab/panel is frozen, I can still use scroll, open file (empty txt), and press F2, type new name, but after pressing Enter it's frozen, also I can't switch to another tab, with mouse or shortcut.

I tested with default settings and custom settings, with many tabs, many subfolders...
