Statusbar Font Size unwanted change

I started a tutorial on colors configuration, and realized I have been ignoring this problem for ages, and never asked the question before.

In Settings > Colors/Fonts, there is only the option to change Statusbar font color, not font size.
If I change the color from the default, the next time I open FC, the font size has gotten smaller, from 10 pt down to 8 pt.

I don't see anything in the INI file for statusbar font size.

Changing the font color back to black does not correct the size.

The only thing that does correct it is to go back to the original "default" INI file, and start over, without ever touching statusbar font color again.

Does anyone else see this happen?
Is there a fix?

I've never seen it. The font looks the same to me after changing the color and after restoring the previous INI -- too small, but no smaller

phooey. Now I will have to experiment even more to see if I can find the reason.
I see this happen on various screen resolutions, and with Standard DPI, and Large DPI. Using XP Pro SP2.

I thought I was imagining it, until I happened to be comparing some screen shots after loading FC with the default INI, and then using my tweaked INI.

Maybe I should play with it in my other Windwoes accounts where I use a normal shell.

Well, I tried again on a different computer, using XP-Pro SP3 (like my home pc) NOT A POWER USER

I used a brand new instance of FC 2009-02, and the first time I did the font color change it looked good, hooray.

But then I changed the color again, and the dreaded shrinkage happened again. Oh, I put my head down and wailed and stomped my feet, dogs on the next block howled, it was a dark day in the neighborhood.

I just can't find what window element the statusbar is drawing its parameters from, and there is nothing in the ini for statusbar font size.

There is one mystery entry in default ini for [FONT] with an entry for Comic Sans Serif 8 pt. If you set it to, for example, 28 pt, nothing on FC interface changes. So it is apparently a null setting.
