I normally use a trackball, so I don't often make mistakes when dragging and dropping files and folders (cause you just take your finger off the ball while you left-click drag and drop).
However, my trackball went goofy the other day and I reverted to using a mouse (notice I said revert - cause it is kind of a step down for me in terms of control) and suddenly I found I was making goofs when double clicking inside of Free Commander.
See, the Logitech MX-518 is a pretty darn awesome gaming mouse, but it has these nice, slipperly little teflon-like pads that keep it gliding ultra-smooth across the surfice.
That's great for gaming, but when you are trying to hold it still so you can double click, it can sometimes slide just a bit between the first click and the second click.
So, instead of double clicking on a folder or file, I ended up accidently performing a drag and drop. And sometimes that can be a nightmare, cause you may not notice you did that and when you finally realize it (if you do) then you may have a hard time finding that so you can put it back the way it was.
So I'm looking around, beta testing 394 and thinking that "I have GOT to find a solution for this!" I tried my mouse driver - nada - no "disregard tiny little movements between double clicks" feature.
I was using 394 and it defaulted to a setting of "Use Dialog Window For Rename" after a fresh install. I prefer to rename in-line, so went and found that setting to toggle it off, and BAM! I see just above it that mega-spiffy "Show Popup Menu For Left Button Drop" checkbox.
So, I checked it, and now, I'm not sabotaging myself!
How freakin' cool is that?
I can find features that are new to me even though they may not be new to the program!
Free Commander = The Gift that Keeps On Giving!
Thank you, drive through...
