I selected all files in a directory for rename, but finally wanted to rename just some of them. I expected that this could be archived by selecting the files before click on "Rename", but this does not work. I think the selection should either be respected or FC should show a warning if some but not all files are selected, telling the user that not selected files may be renamed also.

Selection in "Multi rename" window should be respected for rename operation
Re: Selection in "Multi rename" window should be respected for rename operation
I think, I do not understand what is your problem.
You should select the files in file panel you want to rename and then press F2 or Ctrl+M.
In "Multi rename" dialog you have now the selected files.

Re: Selection in "Multi rename" window should be respected for rename operation
If you are already in the "Multi rename" window, and want to rename not all files, then I thought its possible to select just the files I want to rename. But selection in the "Multi rename" window is ignored for the rename operation (so I several times needed to undo the not wanted renames by hand afterwards).
Re: Selection in "Multi rename" window should be respected for rename operation
In the dialog you have two options:
- File->Lock for changes
- File->Remove from the list
- File->Lock for changes
- File->Remove from the list

Those actions are available also in the Multi rename toolbar, icons are intuitive and big icons can be used too.
