handling file names with local characters within

I noticed that freecommander is not handling local characters very well. For example I tried to access few files with names containing letters with special diacritics for Slovak language. I know that few people from Slovakia are hanging around here, so they can prove it
thing is, that I see those files correctly, but when I try to manipulate with them in any way, fc is acting like the file we are talking about is not found on this location. I can provide more info if needed

I get the problem with japanese filenames:

東京.rar

when I open the folder with freecommander, I get:

~1.rar

and it's impossible to copy/move or do anything on this file.

Here are some screenshots, to show you the bug (I'm using Vista in French, and installed the Asian addon languages):

After that, it displays an error message telling that the file doesn't exist.
BTW, F3 works on the file, but not F5 nor F6...

No, but it would save my time (and also yours - making and uploading screenshots...). (Edit: Hmm.. perhaps it would even help you to copy your files)

I have recently downloaded FreeCommander and tried to use it. However, it does not support files with Thai language characters.
FreeCommander is non-unicode program. You have to tell windows what language to use for non-unicode applications:
- In Windows XP select Start menu -> Settings -> Control Panel.
- In the Control Panel select Regional and Language Options.
- Select the Advanced tab.
- Set the Language for non-Unicode programs to the correct language.

I know it takes a lot of time, so I'm sorry for bothering you.

About your trick, it doesn't work, since I'm using a french Vista, and I don't want to switch to japanese to be able to copy one file, since it will switch all my system to the japanese hour (and probably some other changes)...

Ok, I read carefully the links you submitted, and it seems to do the trick.
However, I don't feel like changing that, since it's changing the configuration of my computer (and I'm a developer, so I don't want to mess it), so I'll wait for a unicode version.
