Why is Freecommander so slow?

#1 Post by madoues » 02.02.2025, 05:01

Hi,

I am in the process of managing my files, which I haven't been done in almost 10 years.
There is a lot to do and I am using FreeCommander to do it.
I have often wondered why moving, copying and deleting files is so slow in this program.
However, now it is testing my patience.

Copying 1 file seems to happen in a second, but the program freezes for 10 seconds or more before becoming responsive.
Deleting or moving is the same.

Does the speed of operation of this program depend on some tinkering to do with windows?
What gives? It has ALWAYS been this way for me.

The features in the program are second to none, but this waiting all the time after the program seems to have done it's work is insane.
Please, any help will be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
Daniel

P.S. I am using Build 901 64-bit donor

Try Windows File Explorer, if it's the same or not.

Upgrade FC to latest version.

Try first current free 32 bit version.
If you use AV (AntiVirus) program - try without.

FC has always been slow especially with returning control after it has done it's thing.
Try FastCopy, I use it for all file transfers, copying, deleting. It can be integrated into FC with some effort.
