Have the Keyboard shortcuts Defaults button only change item highlighted

#1 Post by robsc » 09.07.2024, 21:52

I changed some keyboard shortcuts and couldn't get them to go back to default, The way the interaction went I think could be improved.

I could only activate the Defaults button if I had an item selected and then deleted the shortcut with the Remove button. When I clicked on the Defaults button, it changed all the keyboard shortcuts back to default. It would be better if there were a way to have it change to default the item selected. I had some other shortcuts non-default and they changed back which is not what I wanted. I found I could not use the keyboard to input the default shortcut either. I tried the 1st and 2nd shortcut settings, and neither would allow me to use my keyboard to enter the default shortcut so I had to use the Default button, which changed all of them back to default.

I think having a choice of globally changing your shortcuts back to default along with a choice to only change a single selected item back to default is the way to go.

Please read my reply for your other post.

Use "Remove" button to remove just the selected shortcut.

Anyway, option to make just selected shortcut default is missing and the button "Defaults" could be confusing, even danger, if someone has say 30 custom shortcuts and click it by mistake, he can lose all custom shortcuts.

I think there should be a confirmation dialog for "Defaults" button, I requested it probably years ago.

Workaround, FC has auto-backup, so it's possible to restore previous shortcuts from backup.
