It's possible to use external programs in FreeCommander, to add new features, or to enhance existing.

Thanks to the new built-in icons added in build 903 donor it's now possible to use the icons with the same style as in FreeCommander.

For example, it's possible to create a multimedia toolbar, which can be useful for users without multimedia keyboard, or/and to control any audio/video playing in any window, even on another display, it can be useful also to quickly pause or stop video playing in web browser with many tabs.

Here is a simple guide, how to create a multimedia toolbar in FreeCommander, using HotkeyP:
- download HokteyP
- unpack it to e.g. C:\Tools\HotkeyP (don't use "Program files" folder)
- in FreeCommander - menu - Tools - Favorite tools - click to "Favorite tools edit"
- create multiple items for any toolbar, existing, or new

For these actions just copy/paste the text to appropriate field (edit HotkeyP path, if needed):

Code: Select all

Name: | Program or folder: | Parameter:
Play/Pause | C:\Tools\HotkeyP\HotkeyP.exe | -macro \play_pause
Stop | C:\Tools\HotkeyP\HotkeyP.exe | -macro \stop
Previous track | C:\Tools\HotkeyP\HotkeyP.exe | -macro \prev_track
Next track | C:\Tools\HotkeyP\HotkeyP.exe | -macro \next_track
Volume - | C:\Tools\HotkeyP\HotkeyP.exe | -Volume - 2
Volume + | C:\Tools\HotkeyP\HotkeyP.exe | -Volume + 2
Mute | C:\Tools\HotkeyP\HotkeyP.exe | -mute

For icons the built-in icons can be used, next to the Icon - File - click to button [...] - Built-in icons and then select icon in the Icon pane.

Note: It's possible to use just 1-state icons, so the icons will not change on click.

Final multimedia toolbar could look like this:

Of course, any custom, external icons can be used too.
