7Zip security issue

#1 Post by Marek » 01.09.2023, 12:06

There is a warning about 7Zip security problem https://www.cve.org/CVERecord?id=CVE-2022-29072
It is highly recommended to update 7Zip.

An external plugin for 7Zip can be installed in FreeCommander. Mostly the Total7Zip plugin.
Under "Tools->Settings->Archiver plugins" you can check if Total7Zip is present in the list of installed plugins.
If not, then you don't have to do anything.

If Total7Zip is present in the list then it is highly recommended to update the 7Zip files
for this plugin. You can find the current files here (SHA256 checksum: 34997BA077AC8846F09DB6C881594586CBB0864376C7ECF2B8177983F554018F)
In the list of installed plugins you can see in which folder the plugin is installed (column "Plugin file").
In the plugin installations folder you will find files 7z.dll, 7z.sfx, 7zG.exe (in subfolder 64 there are also 7z.dll, 7z.sfx, 7zG.exe) - you overwrite these files with the files
from the archive 7Zip_Total7Zip_dlls.zip.
You have to copy the files from the main archive folder into the plugin folder
and files from archive subfolder "64" into "64" subfolder of the plugin folder.
