No menu & empty helpfile in 740

Just installed build 740 in Windows 10 and restored settings from (now uninstalled from Windows 7) XE 32-bit. No errors, but now I have no menu, meaning the usual File, Edit, View, etc. Only an action toolbar with icons, a drive bar, and a function bar. Lacking the Help menu option, I used F1 only to find the newly downloaded FreeCommander.chm file opens, but has no content.
Am at a loss, any help appreciated as there is none here.

Hello, Dreamer, and thanks for your rapid response.

I downloaded and installed the helpfile from your link 2 or 3 times today. I extracted it to more than one location, over and over again, with the same result each time. It opens to show a table of contents but all pages are blank. I deleted the file and rebooted between each operation.

As concerns the Main menu, right-clicking the status bar does nothing! So I right-clicked every toolbar, the splitter, the address bar, and empty space, all to no avail. I got to Settings --> View by using F12, but could only find mention of the Main menu in one place. That is the first stop opposite View, where you have three icon options to choose from: Large, Small, or none. None of these options affect anything I can see on the screen.

And I already have the latest version, FreeCommander XE (x64), 2017.0.0.740. Now I have Windows 10 for the first time, and have never had 64-bit applications of any kind, so there is that. But I have been using FC for years on my 32-bit Windows 7 machine, so I'm not a newbie. And I'm . . .

Which Help file you downloaded, I mean which language? I tried to re-download English version and it works good. However, I had the same problem with the other chm file - no content, I'm not sure where is (was) the problem. As workaround, you can use online help.

Regarding the main menu, you need to right click on the left side of the status bar. If you still can't enable main menu, you can create toolbar button "Show/hide main menu".

2017.0.0.740 is not the latest version, Build 760 32-bit public beta is the latest 32-bit version and Build 760 64-bit donor is the latest 64-bit version, available for donors. More information in the FAQ.

AHA ! Main menu working now, thank you.

With all that clicking, you would have thought I'd hit that sweet spot on the status bar! (BTW, I can't find a Show/hide main menu button & don't know how to create.)

The Helpfile remains a problem, though. I tried the one from your link (yes, English), and another from the Downloads page. Both are empty. If you got one that worked, can you please post a link for me?

As far as the version, apparently I should have donated more than $5. I got an email with a link to that version only yesterday, so I assumed it was the latest. And, of course, to reach the Donor Download page, you must donate $8! But, yes, I did want the 64-bit.

Still no good on the helpfile. Guess I'll just keep checking back. Yes, I was wondering about the OS, myself.

The following link did not work - brought me right back to this topic page. But I'm not going to worry about it just yet. Still in the middle of setting up my new system and have a lot to learn about Windows 10.

Thank you, Dreamer. I came back after all this time to tell you that I had discovered the same: Properties | Unblock.
Windows 10 continues to make my life miserable with its micromanagement of my PC.
