In 'shell menu' settings I want the default to be the left panel but no matter what setting I use, when I close FC it changes to Active panel.

Confirmed, when I change the option to "left panel", after restart it's "active panel", always. I tried also to run FC as administrator before changing the option.
FC 2008.06, Windows Vista SP1.

I've just discovered that it isn't even on FC restart - simply going to another settings tab and back to 'shell menu' will have changed the panel back to archive.

Admin rights needed. For Vista: try to start FC with right click and then something like 'As admin...'.

I tried...
- run as admin
- change the option from "active" to "left"
- exit fc
- re-start fc (as admin again!)
= option is changed back to "active"
FC build 352, Win Vista

I'm running XP Home SP2 and I have full admin rights. And it's not just v2008.06 that is affected. I'm sticking to v2007.10a in the meantime because of the bugs but it also has the same problem with the 'select panel for open' setting. In fact so does 'start program in'.
