628 - Drag & Drop broken
628 - Drag & Drop broken
Drag & Drop does not work in the file list even though the appropriate setting in (Settings > File/folder operations > Drag&Drop) is activated. "Does not work" means that you cannot "grip" neither files nor folders.
Running FreeCommander XE build 628 in Win7 x64 SP1.

Re: 628 - Drag & Drop broken
Check new option for drag&drop - Use blocking transfer. It is now the default option.
You can start non blocking transfer if you start dragging operation with CTRL key.

Re: 628 - Drag & Drop broken
Try to start the drag operation on the item caption or icon.
Re: 628 - Drag & Drop broken
I think the option "Use blocking transfer" should be disabled by default, definitely.
Re: 628 - Drag & Drop broken
SOLVED!
Thanks for your help: using Ctrl or disabling "blocking transfer" solved the problem.

Why?I think the option "Use blocking transfer" should be disabled by default, definitely.
Are you sure that was caused by "blocking transfer"? What happens if you now activate "blocking transfer" again? Thanks for your help: using Ctrl or disabling "blocking transfer" solved the problem.
Re: 628 - Drag & Drop broken
Because drag and drop doesn't work if enabled. I'm still not 100% sure how it works, or how it should work, but if enabled, it doesn't work at all here.Marek wrote:Why?I think the option "Use blocking transfer" should be disabled by default, definitely.
Re: 628 - Drag & Drop broken
Have you tried with the freecommander.ini you have last time send me?Because drag and drop doesn't work if enabled. I'm still not 100% sure how it works, or how it should work, but if enabled, it doesn't work at all here.
Drag&drop works always for me.
Re: 628 - Drag & Drop broken
OK, I think I got it, probably it's NC mode, if enabled, drag and drop doesn't work with blocking transfer, if disabled, it works good, always.
Re: 628 - Drag & Drop broken
Absolutely right. When using NC mode - drag & drop doesn't work when blocking transfer is switched on. With CTRL key it starts working.
Re: 628 - Drag & Drop broken
Is there somewhere an explanation what "NC mode" and "use blocking transfer" does mean for drag&drop?
This because drag&drop to some target applications work with "use blocking transfer" disabled and others not.
What are the pros and cons of this "blocking" option? Anyhow this option saved my life (my workflow with digital media files). Thank you Marek!
A reference for 3rd party SW authors would be also nice, because often the drag&drop does not work between other windows applications. Very often the software authors of source and target applications blame the other tool for being responsible that drag&drop does not work.

Re: 628 - Drag & Drop broken
drag&drop doesn't work for me, too, when "blocking transfer" is used. Working fine without it. Tested in x86 installation and x64 standalone versions of FreeCommander XE 2014 build 654.
As described before, dragging is the problem already. After selecting a file and still holding the left mouse button, the gui reacts as if the mouse button is not clicked. That means that e.g. files are still highlighted on mouse over.

So you think, I'm too stupid to drag when "blocking transfer" is enabled, but I magically know how to do it when disabled? Please read the thread and the post you're replying to before trying to help.voks wrote:drag&drop doesn't work for me, too, when "blocking transfer" is used. Working fine without it.
Dreamer, Cpt. Kork and Timon already wrote that only using non-blocking transfer solved the problem for them. The same is true to me.
I didn't change any settings after fresh (portable) installation, NC Mode is disabled.
@Marek: If you need more information about the used system or something else, feel free to contact me.

Re: 628 - Drag & Drop broken
My last post is very old, this bug has been fixed already and everything works good here (654, Win Vista 32 bit), even with default settings, so it's strange.
Anyone has the same problem as voks?
P.S. Please calm down, we all want to help you.
