Suggestion : shift tab to switch between panels

#1 Post by hubolle5313 » 04.07.2012, 10:07

Hello, I still use FreeCommander 2009.09b and something that annoy me is that it does not handle shift+tab to switch (back) between the two panels.

With FreeCommander XE 591 it works but I have to press 2 times shift+tab to make it work, could this be improved ?.

Use TAB for switching between panels.

I already use it, and I wish that TAB also works used with SHIFT key (I mean a "reverse TAB" as it works in FreeCommander 2009.09b).

I don't see the problem:

with TAB you switch to the other panel (e.g. from left to right) and with the next TAB pressing you go back to the first panel (e.g. from right to left).

With Shift TAB you cycle between file list and tree (and if it's open the favorite bar).

Me neither  (!) for a while  :

I now understand why I could not reproduce the issue  (with 2009.02b and XE build 0.601), in fact I said "shift tab", but the real key combination is "shift control tab".

I use a lot Opera and Firefox browsers with key shortcuts. In these browsers :
- control+tab => display right tab web page.
- control+shift+tab => display left tab web page.

I use them a lot, could you include them into FreeCommander please ?

Have you tried to set the wanted shortcuts by yourself?

Tools > Define keyboard shortcuts

Type "tab" in the filter field below the list and change what you like.

Thank you for the idea. I use FC for years, and never noticed this feature

However, because I'm quite lazy, I hope the developper will include these shortcuts  .

Ctrl+Tab and Ctrl+Shift+Tab works in FreeCommander XE exactly the same way as in Firefox:
- Ctrl+Tab: switch to the next tab
- Ctrl+Shift+Tab: switch to the previous tab

Note that TAB switches between FC panels -- which neither Opera nor Firefox have.
If you focus on the tabs then the shorcuts work the same, as Marek pointed out.
