Hi,
would be cool, if the tabs which were open could be saved on close and the next time, FC starts, got restored.

Try Settings > View > Folder Tabs > Tab Management page.
Uncheck [ ] Close all not locked tabs when the program ends.

Strangely this option (still) does nothing for me. However I checked it, the not locked tabs still will be opened again after program restart

I say, what a day...

Is this option still checked if FC is restarted?
Where is your freecommander.ini located (Help > about < paths info)?

Yep, still checked after restart!
Freecommander.ini is located in the folder: C:\FreeCommander\Settings
