Freecoammander XE slow on network activity

#1 Post by kakadu » 01.03.2012, 10:22

Hi

Some days back my interest in Freecommander XE increased.

Everything is working fine, beside two exceptions:
- no internal FTP implemented yet (saw it on the todo list)
- is very slow on network activity

Regarding network slowness:
Freecoammander XE seems to cache or load something from the network and freezes totally for that time (seems to depend on the number of objects in the directory or so - using Windows Explorer (Win7 64bit) is fast as usual)

I digged a bit into the config (and searched through the forum) but found no setting to decrease this freezing time.

Any thoughts on this?

Thanks
kakadu

Greetings.

This week I discovered / tried out the FrC setting "Use FrC for network loading".
My initial impression is that it GREATLY improves UNC network access ...

Nothing helps, FC XE still freezes for many seconds.
No matter ...
- what drive info should be displayed
- what changes should get automatically refreshed
- if Windows or FC XE should do the netowkr load

Any ideas on the settings?
Or is that maybe "bad" code or no good interoperatibility between Windows 7 and FC XE?

Thanks

delete your setting [backup before] then start FC and test again.
if your problems are gone then I most likely  blame your settings.
have a look at
viewtopic.php?f=6&t=3879

from time to time FC is not responding as well for some secs. in my network environment,
so there might be some potential to improve the code in this area.

I would suggest rather than having an "not responding" file manager, displaying a progress bar & loading stuff in background, while still allowing file browsing at least in other tabs, would be a more user friendly solution.
