When the tray icon is clicked, the FC Windows is restored but not maximized : https: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1VeVxLVz7pPenmSHAugaO9qN1gz8A6SEQ/view?usp=sharing
I'd think/request that the FC window should be maximized.
To understand this, here is the use case :
1. The file manager is one of ...

Re: Issue with error pop-up and minimize to system tray.
The issue of minimizing to system tray has been fixed.
However when the tray icon is clicked, the FC Windows is restored but not maximized : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1VeVxLVz7pPenmSHAugaO9qN1gz8A6SEQ/view?usp=sharing

Issue with error pop-up and minimize to system tray.
Hello Marek,
This looks to be an issue due to some conflicting features. I've suggested the possible solution towards the end. So here goes :
Platform :
1. Windows7 Professional, 64 bit
2. FreeCommander XE 2023 Build 880 32-bit public
Description :

Re: Click on on system tray icon, Togles between Maximize and Minimize of the FC window.
My opinion, I'm not using system tray for most programs just for the strange and different behavior.
FC tray icon should minimize to tray/restore with single click, without option (start new instance could be in the context menu as option, if needed).
I found few issues and I have some ...

Re: Click on on system tray icon, Togles between Maximize and Minimize of the FC window.
That behaviour is standardized but only for icons on the task bar.
From there it also works for the FC.
It'd be good to have it for the Tray Icon as well.
Going to task bar, the behavior is not consistent, because each time the taskbar icon is clicked, launch of a new instance if FC is ...

This behavior has been implemented with Telegram desktop client.
And also in other programs- but as I have just checked: in a minor part [of what I personally happen to use]
Its a pity that this is not an universal rule of how programs works
No worries. Now that we know the issue is ...

File -> Exit should always remain as FC close.
Current Behavior :
When the option "Handle closing as minimization" is set (option checked), both :
1. close via Window X button AND
2. File -> Exit,
result in minimizing FC to system tray.
Desired Behavior :
But the functionality File -> Exit should not behave that way. File -> Exit should ...

Click on on system tray icon, Togles between Maximize and Minimize of the FC window.
It would be good to have toggling of FC window between Maximize and Minimize when clicking on the FC icon in tray.
That is when the FC icon in the system tray is clicked once, it maximizes (if it is minimized) and minimizes (if it is maximized).
This behavior has been implemented with Telegram ...

Re: Special situation where settings don't get saved.
Build 861 32 works fine on Windows 10 and fail on Windows 7.
Hello Marek,
One more possible way of solving this issue is, save ONLY the open tab position(s) info, when FC loses focus OR
Save the ONLY the tab position(s) when a tab position changes. That is :
1. Add a tab
2. Remove a tab ...

Re: Special situation where settings don't get saved.
Hello Marek,
With the above elaborate discussion, I'd think the issue should be clear to you. Could you please confirm that ?
Now the question that naturally arises is, if something's working well on Windows10 the same should work for Windows7 both 32 and 64 bit, unless it's really a platform ...

Re: Special situation where settings don't get saved.
I never run into such problems with any of my file managers including FC.
I always save settings manual and not by any automatic function.
So if a crash appears nothing bad happens and all is as saved last time.
Also I can of course restore settings from the past for any of my tools.
OK, looks ...

Re: Special situation where settings don't get saved.
None of your suggestion are good.
Oh ! is it :?:
But as per Marek, my first suggestion is how FC is behaving on Windows 10
Not everything implemented means it was a god idea and has no disadvantages.
So if you have a better idea, then do contribute to this good work by suggesting ...
