Tools - Settings - Network
Loading the network
Two options are offered for loading the network:
- Use Windows Shell for network loading
If this option is chosen, the network is loaded by Windows functions.
- Use FreeCommander for network loading
If this option is chosen, the network is loaded directly by FreeCommander. FreeCommander may provide higher performance than does Windows, especially for loading large networks.
- If the network is loaded by FreeCommander, the setting
Show hidden shares
can be checked. This will display shares that are not visible in Windows (e.g. ADMIN$).
Use cache for server list
If this setting is checked, the server lists will be read from the cache instead of being investigated afresh on each folder change. Activating the hotkey "Ctrl+Alt+R" refreshes the cache.
Load network in background process on program start
If this setting is checked, the network is loaded in a background process when FreeCommander starts.
