Overview of the user interface - Drive bar


If and how the drive bar is shown can be defined under the menu item "Tools → Settings → View → Drives".

The drive settings can be opened also from the menu that is shown after a right-click on a free space in the "Drive bar" (if the drives are shown as button bar), by clicking the the menu item "Settings".

The position of the drive bar in the main window is shown in chapter "Overview of the user interface".

Do not show "Drive bar"

If under the the menu item "Tools → Settings → View → Drives" neither the option "Show drives as button bar" nor the option "Show drives as pop-up button" are checked, the "drive bar" is not shown.

Show drives as button bar

If under the menu item "Tools → Settings → View → Drives" the option "Show drives as button bar" is checked, the available drives are shown in the "Drive bar" as a button bar .

Clicking a drive icon opens a folder of this drive in the active tab. (In the settings can be configured which folder.)

Show drives as pop-up button

If under the menu item "Tools → Settings → View → Drives" the option "Show drives as pop-up button" is checked, the available drives are shown in the "Drive bar" as a pop-up button .

In this case the active drive is shown. After clicking the button"" the other drives are shown in a pop-up menu.

Clicking a menu item (drive) opens a folder of this drive in the active tab. (In the settings can be configured which folder.)

Drive bar per panel

If under the menu item "Tools → Settings → View → Drives" the option "Show drive bar per panel" is checked, the available drives are shown in the "Drive bar" per panel. Otherwise is the drives of the active panel are shown in the "Drive bar" left-aligned (which could be interesting, if many drives are available in the system).

Drive hints

If the cursor hovers above a drive button the following information about the drive will appear:



The contents of the drive hint can be configured in the menu item "Tools → Settings → View → Drives" under "Drive hint visibility".

Switch drive with the keyboard

After activation of the shortcut "Alt+F1" a menu containing the drives is shown below the "Drive bar" of the left panel. Clicking a menu item (drive) or pressing the "Enter key" opens a folder of this drive in the active tab of the left panel.

The shortcut "Alt+F2" does the same for the right panel.

The shortcut "Shift+drive letter" (e.g. "Shift+C") directly opens a folder of this drive in the active tab of the active panel.

Which folder is shown after selecting a drive can be defined under the menu item "Tools → Settings → View → Drives" under the tab "Select drive".

Context menu for a drive



After "right-clicking" a drive icon a menu for this drive is shown below the icon.

The following menu items are offered:

  • Context menu
    After activating this menu item the Windows standard context menu for this drive is opened below the icon.
  • One menu item per main folder of this drive
    After clicking one of these folders it is opened in the active tab of the active panel.

After "long right-clicking" a drive icon the Windows standard context menu for this drive is directly opened below the icon.
