FTP connection using proxy

With FreeCommander 2008.06 (on Windows XP SP2) I can't establish an FTP connection using a proxy server. It seems that the connection is always tried to establish directly (if I have a look at the open connections with a TCP viewer).
Another point: if I had set the FTP connection to use a proxy server and afterwards set the proxy type to 'None' it is still asking fot the proxy user name and password if not stored in the configuration box (but it still doesn't make the connection via the proxy).
